The Route - Days 12 & 13

Days 12 and 13 of the Coast to Coast Walk includes some of the best walking outside of the Lake District as the route traverses the escarpment of the Cleveland Hills.

 

Day 12 - Ingleby Cross to Clay Bank Top - 12 miles

Day 12 - Stage 1 Stage 1 - Ingleby Cross to Cringle Moor

The route joins the famous Lyke Wake walk from Beacon Hill as it meandors across the North Yorkshire Moors.

  

 

 

 

 

 

Day 12 - Stage 2 Stage 2 - Cringle Moor to Clay Bank Top

The route passes the Wainstones, a natural formation of pinnacled rocks and famous with rock climbers. Clay Bank is the end point for the day but there is no accommodation nearby, only a carpark!. Hopefully my wife will be waiting to provide a lift to the nearest B&B!!!

Day 13 - Clay Bank Top to Glaisdale - 19 miles

Day 13 - Stage 1 Stage 1 - Clay Bank Top to Hillhouse Nab

The start of the final two days of walking and both are 19 mile sections. The walk to Hillhouse Nab first follows th Cleveland way to Bloworth Crossing where it then joins the route of the disused Rosedale Ironstone Railway.

 

 

 

 

 

Day 13 - Stage 2 Stage 2 - Hillhouse Nab to Hart Leap

The route continues to follow the disused railway until it reaches the Lion Inn and the chance of a quick drink!!, The walk then crosses Rosedale Head, Danby High Moor before passing Great Fryup Head and onto Glaisdale Moor.

 

 

 

 

 

Day 13 - Stage 3 Stage 3 - Hart Leap to Glaisdale

The final section of the day will be a simple walk along Glaisdale Rigg before descending into Glaisdale village.
