The Route - Days 10 & 11

Days 10 and 11 of the Coast to Coast Walk are the flattest sections of the walk with some long road sections. 

 

Day 10 - Richmond to Danby Wiske - 14 miles

Day 10 - Stage 1 Stage 1 - Richmond to Bolton-on-Swale

This section follows the River Swale and is always muddy in sections.  There is an interesting memorial at Bolton-on-Swale that was erected in 1743 to celebrate the livfe of Henry Jenkins who was born in 1500 and died in 1670.  

 

 

 

 

 

Day 10 - Stage 2 Stage 2 - Bolton-on-Swale to Danby Wiske

The route from Ellerton Hill to Oaktree Hill is the longest continuous section of road walking on the entire walk and covers about 8 miles.

Day 11 - Stage 1 Stage 1 - Danby Wiske to Sydal Lodge

On the approach to Sydal Lodge the Cleveland hills are seen in the distance.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 11 - Stage 2 Stage 2 - Sydal Lodge to Ingleby Cross

Ingleby Cross marks the gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Wainwright says that the next stage of the walk is one of the best outside of Lakeland. Before arriving in Ingleby Cross it is necesary to cross the only major road on the entire walk, the A19.
