Why walk from Coast to Coast
I have been an enthusiastic Lake District fell walker for well over 20 years and have covered much of the Lake District in the footsteps of the late Alfred Wainwright. However, I have always wanted to take on the challenge of his Coast to Coast walk and in 2010 my dream will come true.

As my wife will testify, I have been saying for more than 8 years that "this year will be the year I do the coast to coast walk". However, each year passed and with our busy work lives and three kids there did not seem to be a window of opportunitity to commit to the walk. In early 2009 though we decided that we had to realise some of our lifetime goals. Well that was it, my chance to do the Coast to Coast walk was set for 2010.
Why 2010 you may ask? Two reasons, 1) Having never done a long distance mult-day walk I wanted time to train and build up the stamina to take on the average 16 miles per day and 2) I wanted to do the walk in aid of a charity and needed the time to get family and friends involved in a fundraising effort.
My fundraising will be in aid of the Alzheimers society and more detais of why I have chosen this charity can be found here.
