The Route - Day 1
Wainwright's Coast to Coast guide provides a foundation for the best long distance walk in Britain, but does not prescribe one specific route. Wainwright suggests one particular way of walking coast to coast across England, but also suggests that people should find their own variations, as long as they do not trespass upon private land. Since the introduction of the Countryside Rights of Way Act of 2000, new routes have become available to walkers and these will be considered in my selection of a route.
